A distress signal pattern change type beacon given in the present invention includes a control unit (13) which generates a distress message having a certain transmitting power, frequency, and repeating cycle, receives a response message corresponding to the distress message from a satellite, changes the distress message to a high transmitting power distress message of which the transmitting power and repeating cycle are maximized if the location of the satellite is identified or if not, to a low transmitting power distress message of which the transmitting power and repeating cycle are minimized. By doing so, the transmitting method of a distress message in distress can be changed in various ways, thereby improving the initial distress signal detecting efficiency at a satellite as well as maintaining the distress signal operation around the clock as a second generation beacon (10, beacon).
