摘要 The present invention relates to a driving device for a three-dimensional liquid crystal display device capable of improving the three-dimensional display quality while reducing the power consumption of a backlight unit using the distance information of three-dimensional image data and a driving method thereof. The driving device for a three-dimensional liquid crystal display device, given in the present invention, includes a liquid crystal panel which displays a three-dimensional image by arranging R, G, and B pixel areas; a data driver which supplies image signals to the data lines of the liquid crystal panel; a gate driver which drives the gate lines of the liquid crystal panel; a timing controller which arranges image data inputted from the outside depending on a three-dimensional driving mode, divides the image data into multiple local areas, modifies dimming values for each local area depending on the distance information of the image data, generates dimming control signals for each local area, and outputs the signals; and a backlight unit which divides the light emitting area of a backlight for the multiple local areas, adjusts the light emitting brightness for each local area of the backlight according to the dimming control signals, and emits light to the liquid crystal panel.
