A diffraction grating and an optical pickup device using the same are provided to minimize the components of optical pickup device by generating main beam and sub beam appropriate for various wavelengths of lights while using a general diffraction grating not a wavelength-selective diffraction grating. A diffraction grating comprises a transparent substrate, and a first grating layer(22b) and a second grating layer(22c) formed on both sides of the transparent substrate. The first grating layer generates main beam and sub beam by diffracting the light of first wave length, and the second grating layer generates main beam and sub beam by diffracting the light of second wave length.
