<p>The present invention relates to a structure for a piston ring and, more particularly, to a structure for a piston ring, which has a multi-layer middle layer installed on the layer surface of a piston ring inside an engine. The middle layer combines light chrome (Cr), chromium nitride (CrN), and titanium carbide (Tic) in order on the outer layer of a base material of the piston ring. A terraced gradation structure where the surface layers of the piston ring have different hardness from each other can be formed by coating a DLC thin film (DLC) around the outside of the middle layer. Through this structure, a DLC thin film piston ring can be obtained having a normal life appropriate to environmental protection laws by reducing a wear rate and a friction coefficient and increasing bond strength between base materials.</p> |
