A character/number input apparatus and an input method thereof are provided to conveniently perform the input of characters/numbers according to each language by using a plurality of block groups and at least one or more activation blocks. A touch key block selection unit includes a plurality of selection blocks in a touch unit(10). The touch key block includes the first operation area. If a touch signal is generated, the first operation area is activated. If there is no touch signal, the first operation area is automatically deactivated after a predetermined time. If a touch signal of the first operation area is generated, the second operation area is activated. If there is no touch signal, the second operation area is automatically deactivated after the predetermined time. A character storage unit(40) stores character data of each language. A code storage unit(60) stores code data corresponding to a touch signal of a communication terminal.
