Provided is a carbon/silicon carbide composite material which has excellent processability and high strength. The carbon/silicon carbide composite material has a structure in which carbon particles have been bonded to one another, with a silicon carbide layer interposed therebetween, and is characterized by having a flexural strength of 50 MPa or higher and a Shore hardness HSD of 50 or less.
