<p>Inks including colorant particles with covalently attached dispersants are disclosed. The inks include a non-polar carrier fluid and pigment particles dispersed in the non-polar carrier fluid. The pigment particles have block copolymer grafts, wherein each block copolymer graft comprises a block copolymer having two or three blocks: a first block attached to the pigment particle, a second block attached to the first block, and an optional third block attached to the second block, wherein one of the blocks contains either a dispersant, a solubilizing and sterically bulky group, or both, wherein another of the blocks contains either acidic or basic functionalized side groups that facilitate charging of the pigment particle, and wherein the optional block contains either a dispersant, a solubilizing and sterically bulky group, or both, with the proviso that the dispersant is present on at least one of the blocks.</p> |
