This bearing beam is formed by casting metal bearing caps into metal with a higher rate of thermal contraction than that of the bearing caps. A pair of bolt-holes is formed in the bearing caps, and the area located on the line connecting the centre of each bolt-hole in the base of the bearing caps is formed so as to be at the same height as the bolt bearing surface or to protrude beyond the bolt bearing surface, and is exposed so as to be visible even after casting the bearing caps.
