On the basis of a signal outputted from the control substrate (110) that controls operation of an elevator (101), travel time is measured from detection that the cage (102) has started travelling to detection that the cage (102) has stopped travelling, and on the basis of the measured travel time, the number of floors that the cage (102) has moved is specified. Further, on the basis of the specified number of floors and the height measurement of a single floor in the building where the elevator (101) is provided, the remote monitoring support device (120) is configured to calculate the travel distance of the cage (102), and to store the calculated travel distance in a storage unit. Thereafter, if a diagnostic command from a management server computer (130) is received instructing transmission of information relating to the state of the elevator (101), this remote monitoring support device (120) transmits to the management server computer (130) information relating to the travel distances stored in the storage unit.
