FIELD: chemistry.SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing nitrodiphenylamines of general formula, where the nitro group can be in the ortho-, meta- or para-position relative an aniline moiety. The method involves reacting aniline with nitrohalobenzenes of general formula CH(NO)X, where X = Cl, Br, I, at temperature of 100-200°C with simultaneous azeotropic distillation of water in the presence of a hydrocarbon solvent which forms an azeotrope with water and a suitable boiling point, in the presence of a base and a catalyst prepared from copper (I) and (II) compounds and 1,3-dialkylimidazolium salts of general formula, where R, Rare linear or branched alkyl substitutes C-C, Ais an anion of an inorganic acid in both the medium of the starting aniline and without.
