The device (2) has a reactor (3) for receiving a reagent that generates an exothermic reaction with a reaction fluid. The reactor comprises a reaction fluid inlet (15) and a reaction fluid outlet (19). A heat exchanger (5) is connected to the fluid outlet and receives heat released by the exothermic reaction to transfer the heat towards a component of a vehicle. A reaction fluid tank (6) is connected to the fluid inlet, and a regeneration circuit (9) regenerates the reagent. The fluid inlet and the fluid outlet are placed on two opposite sides of the reactor. An independent claim is also included for a method for heating a component of a vehicle.
