In a system having a plurality of physical disks each of which stores one or more virtual disks included in a virtual machine which is executed on a physical machine, the present method includes: a process for detecting a sign of failure in a first physical disk; a process for identifying one or more virtual disks stored in the first physical disk from association data in which a virtual disk is associated with a physical disk which stores the virtual disk; and a migration process for migrating, on the basis of the dynamic characteristic or the static characteristic of the one or more virtual disks, or the dynamic characteristic or the static characteristic of a physical disk other than the first physical disk, at least one of the identified one or more virtual disks to a second physical disk that is a physical disk other than the first physical disk and that can store the virtual disk to be migrated.
