PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which: in encoding a multi-viewpoint image obtained by photographing a subject from a plurality of viewpoints, inter-viewpoint prediction encoding is used; the inter-viewpoint prediction encoding conventionally limits candidates of a reference image to an identical viewpoint image and an adjacent viewpoint image; and therefore, when an image having black defects and halation is a reference viewpoint, a prediction error in inter-viewpoint prediction increases, which results in a reduction in encoding efficiency.SOLUTION: In encoding a multi-viewpoint image obtained by photographing a subject from a plurality of viewpoints, a reference viewpoint is set from the plurality of viewpoints. In encoding an image photographed from a viewpoint that is not the reference viewpoint, a reference image is selected on the basis of a photographing parameter and parallax, and encoding is performed using the selected reference image. |
