PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a currency processing unit capable of managing the number of sheets in each denomination about paper currency stored in cartridges even if multi-feeding occurs, wherein a plurality of sheets of paper currency are carried in an overlapped state.SOLUTION: A carrying part 12 identifies paper currency fed out from denomination cartridges 41 to 44 by an identification part 13, carries paper currency that can be identified to a paper currency reception and payment port 4a for storage, and carries paper currency that cannot be identified to a temporary storage part 46 for storage. The carrying part 12 carries the paper currency that is stored in the temporary storage part 46 and the number of sheets of which can be determined to a rejection cartridge 45 for storage, and carries paper currency, the number of sheets of which cannot be determined to the denomination cartridges 41 to 44 of the same denominations as the denomination cartridges 41 to 44 feeding out the paper currency for storage. A paper currency processing unit 4 manages the number of sheets of paper currency stored in each cartridge on the basis of the number of sheets of paper currency carried to the paper currency reception and payment port 4a and the rejection cartridge 45 for storage. |
