PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an insert molding apparatus capable of preventing the breakage of a mold by detecting the arrangement state of a part arranged in parallel to a lead frame with respect to a mold, and an insert molding method.SOLUTION: An insert molding apparatus 1 includes a mold 2 for constituting a cavity between an upper mold 2A and a lower mold 2B, an injection means 3 for injecting molten resin in a cavity of the mold 2, a send-out means 4 for sending out the lead frame before molding from the upstream side of the mold 2, a recovery means 5 for recovering the lead frame after molding from the downstream side of the mold 2 and a seating means 6 for seating the lead frame on the lower mold 2B. The seating means 6 is equipped with a seating base 61 capable of advancing to a place between the upper mold 2A and the lower mold 2B, a support frame 62 for supporting the seating base 61, a drive means 64 (a before and behind drive motor 64A and an up and down drive motor 64B) for moving the seating base 61 to the mold 2 and a measuring means 65 for measuring the distance between the seating base 61 and the support frame 62. |
