PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely measure a tapping hole diameter from thermal images of a molten iron tapping flow having a waving surface.SOLUTION: A method for measuring a tapping hole diameter of a blast furnace includes: binarizing a plurality of thermal images Org of a molten iron tapping flow, which have been imaged at a constant imaging interval, to generate binarized images Bin; obtaining absolute value differences between the temporally consecutive two images among the generated binarized images Bin to generate difference binarized images Dif; and using the difference binarized images Dif to derive a diameter D of the molten iron tapping flow as the taping hole diameter.
