PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate that has anti-glare characteristics and has improved tightness of black during display of black in an image display device, and an image display device using the polarizing plate.SOLUTION: Provided is a polarizing plate in which at least one of protective films protecting both surfaces of a polarizing film has a layer containing fine particles and resin on a transparent film; the maximum sectional height of the surface of the protective films is 1.0 to 3.0 μm, and the average inclination angle is equal to or less than 1 degree; and values of the transmissive sharpness of the protective films measured through four optical sieves (widths: 2 mm, 1 mm, 0.5 mm, and 0.125 mm) are 70% or more, respectively. Also provided is an image display device using the polarizing plate. |
