PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biocontrol agent, which is a mycovirus having a remarkable virulence lowering effect on a white root-rot bacterium and having a stable infectious ability and that can control white root-rot.SOLUTION: A new mycovirus is an essential factor of the action of lowering the viability of white root-rot bacterium flora as a host and the action of lowering the virulence of the white root-rot bacterium as a host to a plant; the virus genome is RNA composed of RNA of 5-8 kb and also includes an RNA region composed of a base sequence having the identity of 95% or more to a specific base sequence; the shape of the viral particle is globular with 30-45 nm diameter; and it has the capability of causing particle infection to the cell of the white root-rot bacterium as a host. The white root-rot controlling agent includes the above mycovirus.
