PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve high resolution by displacing an optical modulation element, and to allow a simple configuration to remove dust.SOLUTION: In a projector 1 comprising: a light source 30; an image display unit 50 that has a DMD 551 forming an image; an illumination optical system unit 40 that guides light to the image display unit 50; and a projection optical system unit 60 that performs an enlargement projection of an image, the image display unit 50 has a stationary unit 51 that is stationarily supported, a movable unit 55 that includes the DMD 551, and displaces with respect to the stationary unit 51, and a dust removal unit 70 that is provided in the stationary unit 51 to remove dust on the DMD 551 upon displacement of the movable unit 55, and the projector comprises: a movement control unit 12 that causes the movable unit 55 to be periodically displaced; and a dust removal control unit 13 that causes the movable unit 55 to be displaced to a removal position of the dust by the dust removal unit 70.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
