PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel solar cell element having high photoelectric conversion efficiency.SOLUTION: A BaAglayer 22(0.001≤x≤0.08) and a ZnO layer 23 are included in a transparent substrate, a BaAglayer 22 has a thickness of 2 nm or more and 18 nm or less, and a ZnO7 layer 23 is composed of multiple ZnO columnar crystal grains 23a grown on the surface of the BaAglayer 22. Each ZnO columnar crystal grain 23a has a longitudinal direction in the normal direction of a transparent substrate body 21, and a width increasing from the BaAglayer 22 toward a transparent conductive layer 3. The width of each ZnO columnar crystal grain 23a appears by cutting in the normal direction of the transparent substrate body 21. Each ZnO columnar crystal grain 23a has an R2/R1 ratio of 1.1 or more and 1.6 or less, where R1 represents the width at one end of the ZnO columnar crystal grain 23a in contact with the surface of the BaAglayer 22, and R2 represents the width at the other end thereof. |
