PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To remove condensation dew on an image carrier in a short period of time in an image forming apparatus comprising the image carrier without requiring additional members such as a heater or a duct.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a freely rotatable intermediate transfer belt 33; an image forming unit 2 which holds developer including toner and forms a toner image directly or indirectly on the intermediate transfer belt 33; a transfer roller 34 which is in press contact with the intermediate transfer belt 33 and transfers the toner image formed on the intermediate transfer belt 33 to a sheet P; and a cleaning blade 35 which is in contact with the intermediate transfer belt 33 and collects untransferred toner remaining on the intermediate transfer belt 33 without being transferred after the toner image formed on the intermediate transfer belt 33 has been transferred to the sheet P. When a main power of the apparatus is cut off, it forms a solid image 71 on the intermediate transfer belt 33 by the image forming unit 2 and covers at least a part of the intermediate transfer belt 33 with the solid image. |
