PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure diagnosis device configured to specify a generation point of an adhesion failure, in a variable valve mechanism having a variable mechanism part and a drive part.SOLUTION: In an internal combustion engine, there is arranged a variable valve mechanism having a variable mechanism part 300 for changing a valve characteristic value of an air intake valve 31 and a drive part 200 for driving the variable mechanism part 300. When holding torque in a portion of air cylinders out of a plurality of the air cylinders differs from holding torque at a normal operation of the variable valve mechanism with respect to holding torque being torque outputted from the drive part 200 when holding the valve characteristic value at a constant value, a motor control device 150 for controlling a motor 210 of the drive part 200 determines that there is an adhesion failure in the variable mechanism part 300. Then, when holding torque in all the air cylinder differs from the holding torque at the normal operation of the variable valve mechanism, the control device determines that there is an adhesion failure in the drive part 200. |
