Provided are a method for generating ultrasonic images and an image processing device using time gain compensation (TGC). The method for generating ultrasonic images comprises: a step of acquiring data on ultrasonic waves; a step of determining valid data to estimate the reduction extent of the data on ultrasonic waves; a step of estimating the reduction extent of the data on ultrasonic waves based on the valid data; a step of performing TGC for the data on ultrasonic waves based on the estimated reduction extent; and a step of producing ultrasonic images based on the data on ultrasonic waves whose TGC is performed.
