PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simultaneously measure structure of a core and of a clad using an NFP (Near Field Pattern) method, even in an optical fiber in which a coating having a refractive index similar to that of the clad is provided.SOLUTION: A method of measuring optical fiber structure is provided that comprises: a first step of making light for core measurement incident on a one-side end face 10a of an optical fiber 10 and detecting outgoing light which a core 11 of the optical fiber 10 transmits and is emitted from the other-side end face 10b of the optical fiber 10; and a second step of irradiating the other-side end face 10b with light for clad measurement and detecting reflected light reflected by the other-side end face 10b. In the method of measuring optical fiber structure, the two steps are simultaneously performed, and the outgoing light and the reflected light are collectively subjected to image processing, so that the structure of the core 11 and of the clad 12 are measured. The coating on the other-side end face side of the optical fiber 10 is removed and an end face 14c of the coating is left exposed, and the first step and the second step are performed while the remaining end face 14c other than the end face 14c left exposed of the coating is provided with light shielding means 16.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3 |
