The present invention refers to an optical buffer allowing long-duration queuing of optical packets wherein said optical buffer comprises:
- an optical loop, the length of which is divided into a plurality of time slots,
- a plurality of optical fibers having different delays and corresponding to the number of time slots of said optical loop wherein a first delay corresponds to the duration of a first time slot and wherein the subsequent delay corresponds to the sum of the duration of the previous delay with the duration of the next subsequent time slot.
