A portable free standing bidet system 10 which is capable of being positioned adjacent to a toilet 14 or releasably connected to the toilet. The bidet may have one or more reservoirs 16, 18 for containing cleansing and rinsing liquids, a power supply which may be mains electrical or a battery for operating a pump to supply one of the liquids to a douche arm 24. The douche arm extends into the toilet for cleansing and rinsing an anal area of a user seated on the toilet particularly, but not exclusively, after use of the toilet. The pump may be connected to a pulse width modulation control device to enable the flow rate and pressure to be varied. |
