Method for operating a wave energy converter for converting energy from a wave movement of a fluid into another form of energy

The method involves controlling speed of rotation of a lever arm (4) of a wave energy converter (1) about rotor rotational axis (x, y, z) such that speed of the rotation of the lever arm averaged over time over one revolution corresponds to orbital velocity of a wave motion. The speed of rotation of the lever arm is controlled such that an angle between tangential velocity of a coupling body (3) and locally flow rate of the wave motion around the coupling body deviates by predefined value that is less than or equal to 90 degree. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a computing unit (2) a wave energy converter.
