Provided by the present invention is a method to exchange information on power and manage the power of an electronic device by using a power transmission protocol communication when the electronic device having a USB (universal series bus) type-C interface is connected with another electronic device. The power management method of an electronic device including a USB type-C interface comprises: a step of recognizing a USB port through a setting channel if the USB port is connected with another electronic device through a USB cable; a step of recognizing the connected direction of the USB cable; a step of receiving power information of the opponent electronic device through the setting channel; and a step of determining whether to enter a downstream facing port (DFP) mode or an upstream facing port (UFP) mode in accordance with the received power information.
