A gas burner 40 has an internal cavity for receiving a gas and air mixture, and includes a flame strip 42 with a distributor 44 located therein. The flame strip is in the form of a cylindrical wall 50 coaxially surrounding the distributor, and includes holes, which may be circular and/or in the form of slots. The distributor is also of cylindrical form and has holes 60 in its cylindrical wall 62. An external mounting flange 46 is provided at one end of the cavity, and the mounting flange is formed by walls of the distributor and flame strip being turned outwardly to form annular flanges 52, 64, with the flanges of the distributor and flame strip being joined together to form the external mounting flange. The opposite end of the flame strip may include a lip 58, and the burner may include an end cap 48 which may have a rim 68 for engagement with the flame strip lip. The end cap, flame strip and distributor may be manufactured from a sheet of metal, and joined by mechanical fastening, for example tabs. |
