The method involves retaining a movable case (14) on a tilting support (12) by a spring (20), so as to allow the movable case to exert a load on two geosynthetic contact surfaces (16, 18) arranged one above the other on the support. An angle of inclination of the support is increased from an initial state in which the spring is in an elastically pre-deformed state, and a retaining force of the movable case is measured from the deformation of the spring. A frictional force at an interface between the contact surfaces is determined from the retaining force of the movable case.
