<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steer-by-wire type steering device for steering in the event of failure of a steering motor, immobilizing a toe angle adjustment mechanism for safe travel in the event of failure of a toe angle adjustment motor, and providing a compact structure and ease of mounting on a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: The steer-by-wire type steering device includes a steering power transmission mechanism 18 that transmits rotation of the steering motor 6 to a steering shaft 10, a toe angle adjustment power transmission mechanism 30 that adjusts the toe angle in accordance with rotation of the toe angle adjustment motor 7, and a switching mechanism 17 that appropriately switches power transmission passages of each motor 6, 7 to carry out steering in the event of failure of the steering motor 6 or the toe angle adjustment motor 7. The steering shaft 10 is formed by mutually jointing a non-rotation divided shaft 10A and a rotation divided shaft 10B that are divided into two in an axial direction by a screw joint part 10C. Both of the divided shafts 10A. 10B are integrally moved in an axial direction to carry out steering.
