[Class 60.] The sliding table 2 of a grinding machine, a milling machine or a planing machine, or a lathe slide rest &c. is arranged to receive its main support on the bed 1 by means of a prismatic slide-bar 3, which may be carried by the bed or by the slide, and a plate 4 on the bed, and is guided additionally by slide bars 7, 8 with inclined faces 7<11>, 8<11> opposite their guiding faces and adjustable by screws 9, 10 to give the required pressure at 7<1>, 8<1> upon the table. The surfaces 7<11>, 8<11> of the bars may slope in the direction opposite to that shown, correspondingly sloped members being secured to the bed to engage the surfaces 7<11>, 8<11>. In a further modification, the members 3, 4 may be arranged above the bars 7, 8. The bars 7, 8 may be tapered longitudinally and adjustable longitudinally by screws engaging their ends. |
