A pipettor comprises a pump for liquid handling, the pump comprising at least one piezo element 2 adapted to increase or decrease a volume of a pump chamber 4, a controller 7 for controlling a deforming of the at least one piezo element and a sensor 3 for measuring time-resolved displacement data of a moveable element 5 and/or flow rate data of a fluidic flow and for transmitting the displacement data and/or the flow rate data to the controller. The piezo element may be adapted to displace the movable element into or out of the pump chamber by deforming in a linear motion or bending upon actuation. The movable element may move in a translational or rotational manner. Alternatively, the piezo element may vibrate. A method for handling a liquid comprises the steps of deforming at least one piezo element to a predetermined extent during a predetermined time-interval using a controller, increasing or decreas­ing a volume of a pump chamber, monitoring a displacement of a moveable ele­ment and/or flow rate data of a fluidic flow and transmitting displacement data and/or flow rate data to the controller.
