<p>Operating a denitrification system, comprises reducing oxidized nitrogen compounds in the presence of microorganisms, by determining a redox measured value of the redox potential prevailing in the reaction vessel and a pH measurement of pH value prevailing in the reaction vessel, and controlling a volume flow of process water and/or a volume flow rate of electron donor that are introduced into the reaction vessel, depending on the redox measuring value and the pH measurement. The system has a reaction vessel (2); a process water supply (4) for conducting process water containing oxidized nitrogen compounds, into the reaction vessel; and an electron donor supply (6) for passing an electron donor into the reaction vessel. An independent claim is also included for the above mentioned denitrification system comprising a reaction vessel, a process water supply, an electron donor supply, and an electrical control (26), which is adapted to perform the above method.</p> |
