The invention relates to a method for processing a paper strip for producing a printing base for a melaminated paper that involves an application according to a low-pressure impregnation technique, and that comprises the following steps: e) producing a paper containing coarsely refined fibres, the paper containing pigments; f) applying a resin-based mixture on the upper surface of the paper to be printed; g) applying a resin-based layer on the lower surface of the paper to be applied against a panel; h) drying the paper; characterised in that the application steps (b) and (c) are carried out simultaneously and in that the mixtures applied on the upper and lower surfaces of the paper have different composition.
