摘要 The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for operating a fuel pump motor. The invention comprises a motor driving unit, a pressure sensing unit, an atmospheric sensor, a communication unit, and a control unit. The motor driving unit drives a motor installed in a fuel pump. The pressure sensing unit senses the pressure of fuel supplied to an engine by the fuel pump. The atmospheric sensor senses the changes in air pressure according to the vehicle location. The communication unit receives sensing signals of the atmospheric sensor and the target pressure of the fuel supplied to the engine from a main controller of the vehicle. The control unit calculates the sensed pressure of the pressure sensing unit as relative pressure based on the signals for sensing the air pressure received from the communication unit. The control unit controls the motor driving unit to change the driving speed of the motor based on the target pressure and relative pressure. By the apparatus and method for operating the fuel pump motor, the present invention is to calculate the sensed pressure of the pressure sensing unit as the relative pressure considering the changes in the air pressure based on the vehicle location, and to accurately control the pressure of fuel supplied to the engine through a fuel supply line by controlling the motor according to the target pressure based on the sensed pressure in the calculated relative pressure state and the driving condition of the vehicle.
