The charge state estimation apparatus is an apparatus for estimating the state of charge of a secondary battery having an anode containing a composite anode material including a first anode material and a second anode material having different operating voltage ranges, a cathode having a cathode material, and a separator for separating the anode and cathode, and includes: a sensor for measuring discharge start voltage and end-of-discharge voltage when the secondary battery is discharged for a specific time period; and a control unit for estimating the state of discharge of a secondary battery corresponding to the measured discharge start voltage and end-of-discharge voltage using a predetermined relation between the discharge start voltage, the end-of-discharge voltage, and the state of charge.
