The present invention relates to a crude reaction product comprising: (A) 90 to 100 wt% of dianhydro sugar as a solid; and (B) 0 to 10 wt% of a reaction byproduct as a solid. The crude reaction product is prepared by comprising the steps of: (a) preparing monoanhydro sugar alcohol by a reaction of sugar alcohol with a primary cyclization catalyst; and (b) preparing dianhydro sugar by a reaction of the monoanhydro sugar alcohol with a secondary cyclization catalyst.
