A server-based profile management system is disclosed. The system comprises: a stream capture server for generating profile data by capturing a received broadcast signal stream and transmitting the profile data to a web server; a web server for receiving the profile data from the stream capture server, updating the profile data, and transmitting the profile data if a broadcast receiving apparatus requests the profile data; and the broadcast receiving apparatus for receiving the selected profile data by requesting the web server to transmit the profile data, and determining a service program based on the received profile data.
