600047 Disclosed herein is a hot briquette iron, suitable as a raw material to be charged in a blast furnace, comprising a plurality of reduced iron particles which are bonded to each other by hot forming, wherein the reduced iron particles each have a surface region having an average carbon content of 0.1 to 2.5% by mass and a central region positioned inside the surface region and having an average carbon content higher than that of the surface region, where the surface region is the region from the surface to a depth of 3mm. The particles as a whole have an average carbon content of 1.0 to 5.0%.
