The invention provides an elevator with a safety device, further reducing the braking distance when an elevator car is stopped emergently, decreasing the elevator tunnel depth and the top gas and further achieving to save the space of an elevating channel. The elevator comprises a brake (7) and an emergency brake device (9), wherein the brake (7) is installed on a hoister and the emergency brake device (9) applies a braking force larger than the brake (7) does. The elevator with the safety device is arranged to decide a first region and a second region according to the position of the elevator car. When the elevator car is located in the first region, if the speed of the elevator car is higher than a first action speed, then the brake (7) is enabled to act, and if the speed of the elevator car is higher than a second action speed, then the emergency brake device (9) is enabled to act. When the elevator car is located in the second region and the speed of the elevator is higher than a third action speed, then the emergency brake device (9) and the brake (7) are enabled to act together. |
