A pattern comprising an inorganic material has been formed by patterning a paste comprising an organic substance and an inorganic substance, subjecting the resultant product to a firing procedure at a high temperature to distill off the organic substance by burning or decomposition, and then partially melting/sintering the resultant glass. This method, however, has such a problem that pattern defects are likely to be formed by the action of a stress applied during the removal of the organic component by firing. A paste composition comprising a glass powder and an organic component, and characterized in that the glass powder contains a low-melting-point glass powder of which the viscosity (?1) (dPa·s) at 570°C and the viscosity (?2) (dPa·s) at 590°C fulfill formula (1) in an amount of 40 mass% or more relative to the total amount of the glass powder. 0.5 < log?1-log?2 < 0.9 (1) The paste composition enables the formation of a pattern having no pattern defect. |
