598258 Disclosed is a system (10) for manufacturing a pressurised filled plastic container (50), such as a thin-walled plastic bottle. The system includes an actuator (20) and a base unit (30). The actuator includes a body portion and a holding/securing member (40) configured to hold or secure a top portion of a container such that a base portion of the container is not held. The base unit includes a heating surface (32) and is configured to receive a base portion of the container. The heating surface is configured to convey energy or heat to a portion of the base portion of the container. The actuator is configured to apply a force or pressure on a container such that a portion of the base portion of the container directly contacts the base unit, thereby deforming the base portion of the container inwards and pressurising the contents of the container (see figures 5A-5C). Methods of providing a filled plastic container are also disclosed. |
