The subject disclosure is directed towards a technology by which a program configured as a set of components has its components executed on different nodes of a distributed computer system. A selected node for executing a component is determined by an execution fabric decision mechanism based upon current resource state/capabilities and metadata associated with the component that specifies desired resource-related capabilities for the component. The execution of the component may be moved to a different node to meet the desired resource-related capabilities. |
