<p>The present invention relates to a method and device for obtaining a throughput rate. The method comprises: obtaining the number of packets sent by a transmission network in a plurality of packet loss periods; obtaining total packet sending time of packet sending periods in the plurality of packet loss periods; and obtaining the ratio of the number of packets to the total packet sending time as the throughput rate of the transmission network in a current network state. In the method for obtaining a throughput rate that is provided by embodiments of the present invention, the throughput rate of the transmission network in an actual network environment is calculated, thereby avoiding a calculation method based on pure theoretical derivation and reducing the calculation error of the throughput rate.</p>
