Disclosed are a method for changing an operating mode of a wireless LAN system and a wireless LAN system. The method for changing an operating mode of a wireless LAN system according to an embodiment comprises: a step in which a station transmits, to an access point (AP), an operating mode change request frame including information on a traffic indication map (TIM) mode change, a request for a change of power save parameters and/or information on a service type change of the STA; a step in which the station receives, from the AP, an operating mode change response frame including information on the TIM mode allowed by the AP, information on the re-allocated AID, and/or information on the changed power save parameter; and a step in which the station changes the TIM mode and/or the power save parameter based on the information contained in the operating mode change response frame.
