Use of a UV-polymerizable composition comprising a polymerizable organic compound, an alkoxysilane having a polymerizable group, a photoinitiator, and less than 30 wt.% of an organic solvent, where the composition has a pH-value of 5-9, is claimed. An independent claim is included for preparing an embedded sample for microscopy, comprising contacting the sample on a carrier with the composition and then irradiating the composition using light having a wavelength = 450 nm, and hardening the composition.
