The suction valve has a valve plate (1) with an axial bore (2) in which a valve structure (5) is axially slidable. A valve seat (4) is provided in a first end face (3) of the valve plate. A sleeve-or ring-shaped supporting element (7) is arranged on a valve piston (5.2) of valve structure so as to support a spring (6) of a valve plate. A collar-shaped extension (9) is provided in second end face (8) of valve plate. The collar-shaped extension is provided with a valve structure guide surface (10) that is in contact with guide surface (11) of supporting element.
