The device (1) has a sound-producing component e.g. grinding mill (2), pump (3) and milk frother, for emitting sound waves during operation and arranged in a housing (10). A controllable electroacoustic actuator (7) is controlled for emitting sound. A controller (4) actuates the actuator such that an anti-sound is emitted and partially extinguishes the emitted sound waves by destructive interference, where the anti-sound is stored in a memory. The actuator is formed by a speaker that provides information output to a user and is arranged in a control and display unit (5).
