A motor starter system and an operation method thereof are disclosed. According to the embodiment of the present invention, the on/off state of an electromagnetic contactor is automatically controlled by using an analog sensor value output from an external sensor. Therefore, the reliability of a motor protection function in an overcurrent is more improved. Also, an external sensor value is received from an upper level detection device connected; the state of the motor starter is monitored in real time. A control command for directly controlling the on/off state of the electromagnetic contactor is transferred so that easy manipulation, the expectance of lifetime and the management of load are carried out. Moreover, costs related to a wiring process compared to the electromagnetic contactor are reduced by using the I/O of a PLC and the use of space is maximized.
